Our realities are not the same.
By attuning to others and seeing the world through their eyes, we can interact with people in new and profound ways
There’s not so much to write today and we’re not going down the memory lane either. Well, at least not this time.
I’ll be sharing one quote from me, an excerpt from an article I read and unfortunately can’t remember find the link anymore, and another quote from James Clear newsletter.
So, enjoy!
Compassion for ourselves and others.
As our self awareness heightens during moments of personal healing/transformation, and as we begin to hold spaces for ourselves during those moments, let’s afford others— who doesn’t seem to have carried out such level of deep and inner work— some grace. Compassion for ourselves, and others, after the wave of self awareness starts to hit deep, is a mark of emotional growth, in itself.
Our realities are not the same
While we may never be able to solve the debate about what constitutes reality, we can recognize that personal reality is not the same for everyone. By attuning to others and seeing the world through their eyes, we can interact with people in new and profound ways
Novelist Jeanette Winterson on the value of darkness
"I have noticed that when all the lights are on, people tend to talk about what they are doing — their outer lives. Sitting round in candlelight or firelight, people start to talk about how they are feeling – their inner lives. They speak subjectively, they argue less, there are longer pauses.
To sit alone without any electric light is curiously creative. I have my best ideas at dawn or at nightfall, but not if I switch on the lights — then I start thinking about projects, deadlines, demands, and the shadows and shapes of the house become objects, not suggestions, things that need to done, not a background to thought.”
Enjoyed reading this? Feel free to share. I write about my learnings on personal growth, life, lessons, and experiences
Have a fantastic week ahead,
Yosola.
The article on reality reminds me of Itachi of the Anime "Naruto".
People live their lives bound by what they accept as correct and true. That’s how they define ‘reality’ and consider it to bw true. But what does it mean to be ‘correct’ or ‘true’? Just mere vague concepts.”
“Their reality may all be a mirage. Can we consider them to simply be living in their own world, shaped by their beliefs?”
“One’s reality might be others’ illusion. We all live inside our own fantasies."
In other words, sometimes, what we think as real might just be an illusion and we may never know.
Physics itself is yet to unravel what consciousness really is and hence what reality is.
Questioning the perception of existence, consciousness makes it feel like nothing is really real. If it weren't for religion I would too.
When there is no electric light at night, I sleep. When there is, I still sleep. Just slower.
But once in a while when I try things. I notice silence helps me become apparently more creative.
Maybe this is peculiar to certain people like me. But what I do know is, in order to study something best, study yourself first. And although, this may sound absurd. You can never know yourself 100%, you can oly towards that percentage. And the more you do, the more you're able to do.
