New year themes and resolutions
Let's switch it up a bit. How about we set themes for new year alongside with new year resolutions?
Hello guys!
How are you doing really? How has 2021 been so far? I really hope it’s treating you well and I hope you’re taking things at your own pace as discussed in my previous newsletter. Also, I hope you’re learning to celebrate your tiny victories as well as the big ones because they also count too.
As predicted, I finally finished reading one of the books I mentioned in the last episode of my newsletter and I’m almost done with the second. Good right?☺️ And I am definitely celebrating by watching few episodes of Bridgerton (Everyone seems to be talking about it, I can’t be left in the dark. Plus, I really want to know if it’s worth the hype).

January is almost over and I’m talking about themes and new year resolutions. It’s probably too late to have this discussion, or not. Actually, it’s never too late to get started. Better late than never they say.
I’m pretty sure you’ve heard ‘new year resolutions’ ear and dear. It’s that time of the year (or not lol) where everyone makes new year resolutions. Say, to eat healthier, stay fit, read more, etc.
The word resolutions is getting tiring, perhaps because most people do not follow through with them. Don’t get me wrong though, setting resolutions is fantastic especially when you have put in place plans to make them them work and you constantly review them.
This time around, let’s switch it up a bit. How about we set themes for the year alongside with resolutions?

What exactly do I mean by new year theme? It is basically a phrase, sentence, or a word you set to live by all through the year. For example, “move out of my comfort zone”, “love and peace”, “mindfulness”, “growth”, “conscious gratitude”, “self discovery”, “facing my fears”, “being at peace with myself”, “self care and wellness”, “self development” etc. The goal is to pick a theme that resonates deeply with you and to live by that theme throughout the year.
You may ask, what’s the difference between themes and resolutions? Themes are less restrictive compared to resolutions. If my theme for the year is growth, I’m going to apply it to all areas of my life (Intellectual, spiritual, psychological etc). Themes are proven to be more effective than resolutions.
Now, how do you pick a new year theme? Here’s a quick guide.

Although, setting new year theme is something I learnt of recent, I could say my theme for last year 2020 was “my year of growth and constantly moving out of my comfort zone”.
I have not completely decided what my theme for this year would be, but it will be something around love, light and peace.
How about you, what’s your theme for this year?
