A trip down the memory lane.
“...Or maybe I can, but that would be too much unsolicited information.”
Hello guys. It’s been a minute. I do not have a lot to say today and I can’t even tell why. Or maybe I can, but that would be too much unsolicited information.
So instead, I’ll take you down the memory lane, and share a couple of my previous (and favorite?) pieces so far in no particular order. Feel free to comment which of them is your fav, or generally speaking, which has been your fav read since you subscribed :)
1. We actually do have more Ws than we choose to give ourselves credit for.
“...If we keep up our pace, at the end of the day when we take a holistic view at the graph of our lives —or our growth in it’s entirety— we may find out that the gradient turns out to be positive and graph generally slopes upward, and that we actually do have more Ws than we choose to give ourselves credit for.”
I got the idea for this while reading a book on Finance. It made so much sense and I immediately relayed it with life in general and I thought to share.
2. We must also learn how to deeply think and act for ourselves.
“...My point is, as much as we may occasionally seek peoples’ opinions on how to go about certain issues, we must also learn how to deeply think and act for ourselves.”
Well, let’s just say there’s a lot going and it really just helps that we have a mimd of our own.
3. What growth means to Sola isn’t necessarily what growth means to Bisi.
“...Apart from the obvious lesson that can be drawn out of the story —comparing our growth/progress to someone else’s is not so much of a wise thing to do— it emphasizes the importance of having an unshakable clarity in what we want from life (or a job, or business, etc.) vs what everyone else wants.”
I had a convo with someone (after I wrote the piece) and realized how we generally unconsciously place our own meaning of growth (or anything, really) on other people.
4. Self awareness can have its downsides too.
“... But we often forget that having the ability to recognize our own lapses, in itself, is a remarkable thing. That recognizing our past mistakes is one step forward in growth and healing. That we did what we did then according to our level of deen, the amount of information, and self awareness that we had at that time. But now we know better.”
As much as personal development is a great thing, the downsides that comes with it is not talked about enough. I guess because it’s such a great thing, it isn’t expected to come with it’s own ‘side effects’. But someone had to say something (and I wholeheartedly did).
That’s all I have for now. I ready did enjoy compiling this and I probably would keep up with it.
Enjoyed reading this? Feel free to share. I write about my learnings on personal growth, life, lessons, and experiences
Have a fantastic week ahead,
Yosola.
P.S. I ran a 10km marathon this week. My leg still hurts and I find it distressing to walk, but it’s nothing compared to the satisfaction I felt for participating. I absolutely recommend :)
